It's the Army to the rescue once again. It has now been requested by civil authorities to rush in 60 civilian "tradesmen" -plumbers, carpenters and electricians -belonging to the Military Engineering Service to help shore up the facilities at the much-criticised Commonwealth Games Village.Sources said the request has been accepted and the tradesmen are being sent to the Games Village. The MES comes under the purview of the Army’s Engineer-in-Chief branch and comprises both military personnel and civilians.
