1 . "Breaking news... A.R. Rahman song dropped from CWG ...Instead, Kalmadi will dance at the opening ceremony, to the song. Delhi badnaam hui darling tere liye!"

2. Prince Charles is thanking kalmadi and is actively convincing the Queen to visit dengue hit Cwg Delhi, this may be his last chance to become the king!

3. Terrorists set to skip CWG 2010 citing thanx to Kalmadi. Unlivable conditions and fear for their safety

Robo Trivia

Kamal Hassan, Shahrukh Khan and now Rajnikanth
Shankar wanted to make Robo after the doing Nayak (Hindi version of Okkadu) with Kamal Hassan and Preity Zinta in the mainleads. Then it was put on the back burner. Shankar wanted to make Robot in Hindi with Shahrukh Khan as hero and producer. This project too didn’t materialize. Rajnikanth was roped into the project in 2008 after the huge success of Sivaji in the combination of Shankar and Rajnikanth.
Since it was a huge budgeted project, two comapnies Eros International (Famous distribution and DVD company) and Ayngaran International were supposed to produce it. They had to backout due to global meltdown. That is when Sun Pictures entered into an agreement to produce the movie.
2-year exclusive contract by the cast and crewmembers
Since it is a sci-fi film that involves visual effects and animatronics (usage of electronics and animation to simulate the real life creatures/objects), director Shankar made all the actors and technicians to sign a 2-year exclusive deal so that they can’t work for other movies. Understanding Is The Base Of Any Relationship

When I was a kid, my mom liked to make breakfast food for dinner every now and then. I remember one night in particular when she had made breakfast after a long, hard day at work.

On that evening so long ago, my mom placed a plate of eggs, sausage, and extremely burned biscuits in front of my dad. I remember waiting to see if anyone noticed, yet all my dad did was reach for his biscuit, smile at my mom and ask me how my day was at school.

I do not remember what I told him that night, but I do remember watching him smear butter and jelly on that biscuit and eat every bite. When I got up from the table that evening, I remember hearing my mom apologize to my dad for burning the biscuits and I will never forget what he said.

He smiled at her and said, "Honey, I love burned biscuits."

Later that night, I went to kiss my dad good night and I asked him if he really liked his biscuits burned.

He wrapped me in his arms and said, "Your mom put in a hard day at work today and she's real tired. And besides, a little burnt biscuit never hurt anyone."

Life is full of imperfect things and imperfect people. I am not the best at hardly anything, and I forget birthdays and anniversaries just like everyone else, but what I have learned over the years is that learning to accept each other's faults, and choosing to celebrate each other's differences, is one of the most important keys to creating a healthy, growing and lasting relationship.

This is my hope for you today. That you will learn to take the good, the bad, and the ugly parts of your life and have a good relationship where a burnt biscuit isn't a deal-breaker.

We could extend this to any relationship. In fact, understanding is the base of any relationship, be it a husband-wife or parent-child or friendship.

Do not put the key to your happiness in someone else's pocket; keep it in your own.

ANJAANA ANJAANI Review...... 4/5

ANJAANA ANJAANI is the story of Kiara [Priyanka Chopra], based in San Francisco, while Akash [Ranbir Kapoor] is a New York City boy. Akash has had a failed business, while Kiara has had a failed relationship. Fed up, they both decide to commit suicide by jumping off a bridge. However, both land up on the same bridge at the same time.

One thing leads to another and Akash and Kiara decide to end their lives on 31st December. With 20 days to go, they decide to fulfill their unfinished wishes and thus begins their journey.

Director Siddharth Anand has a fine sense of story and how to present his characters well. ANJAANA ANJAANI is no different. Of course, you don't take to the film instantly, primarily because it's not the usual prem kahani. In fact, there's hardly any movement in the story in the first hour. It's a collage of some wonderful, some okay moments, frankly. The sequence at the bridge and the various attempts at committing suicide stay with you and so does the sequence in the sea, when they go sailing and decide to swim. Also, the first hour unwinds at a leisurely pace and that's bothersome.

However, story writer Mamta Anand and screenplay writers Advaita Kala and Siddharth Anand reserve the best for the post-interval portions, when the story moves from New York to Las Vegas to San Francisco. The road trip and the varied experiences and emotions they share make it a compelling watch. Of course, the story tends to get a bit predictable towards the end, but come on, don't we like our love stories to have happy endings?

Siddharth Anand has handled the subject with flourish. Besides, the film is not merely rich in substance, but is equally alluring when it comes to style and overall look. The DoP [Ravi K. Chandran] plays a major role here. The film bears a magnificent look all through and the panoramic and exotic locales of America only make every frame stand out. The costumes - Mamta Anand for Ranbir and Manish Malhotra for Priyanka - are trendy.

Vishal-Shekhar's music has a lot of heart. Again, it won't be wrong to state that their compositions take the movie forward. The background score [Salim-Sulaiman] is top notch. In fact, the rich score compliments the mood of the characters beautifully. Dialogues are wonderful.

When two of the film industry's finest actors meet, it puts more pressure on the film. Ranbir is an actor with an infinite range and his dedication to his work is evident in every film. I have often stated that he is the finest actor of his generation and the fact comes alive yet again as you watch him donning a new character in ANJAANA ANJAANI. Priyanka sinks into the role beautifully, so much so that she forgets herself and starts becoming Kiara. When an actor kills his or her eminence and surrenders completely to the role is when the film really takes off. Priyanka has this unique quality. Zayed Khan is likable in a cameo. Tanvi Azmi is wonderful.

On the whole, ANJAANA ANJAANI is an unpretentious romantic saga that revels in the exuberance of newly found love. The film has everything going for it: top notch performances by two super-stars, good music, a sensitive director with a good track record, a simple yet absorbing story and of course, terrific moments [emotional as well as humorous]. Don't miss this one!

Inescapable stress

VERY OFTEN PEOPLE WORK UNDER PRESSURE AND THIS LEADS TO STRESS While the pressure to perform does enhance one's ability, too much of it can be detrimental to health...
Stress is a nat ural component of the human condition and at times, some level of stress is almost essential in order to survive. After all, at some point in our lives, we have all felt that we work best under pressure. However, over the past few decades, the degree of stress that people perform under has increased owing to urbanisation, globalisation and the rise of the corporate world. Very often, an individual works under "emergency" circumstances on a daily basis and this leads to excess stress, which in turn, leads to mental and physiological illnesses.
Therefore, the need of the hour, especially for people in the corporate world, is to understand what causes stress and learn stress management. STRESS AND ANATOMY Our anatomy has not changed for over a billions years but the thing that has changed, is our lifestyle. In fact, what makes urban stress detrimental is the fact that it is mental stress, as most jobs require no physical activity but tremendous mental activity.
However, the body can only release stress through physical exertion. Therefore, besides a modified life style, indulging in any kind of physical activity is recommended.
SIGNS AND SYMPTOMS The following are the most common distress symptoms: Physical: Hypertension, coro nary artery disease, backache, arthritis, osteoporosis, headache, allergies, peptic ulcer, diabetes mellitus, irrita ble bowel syndrome, skin dis ease, liver cirrhosis, respirato ry diseases, impotence, insom nia and metabolic syndrome. Psychological: Depression, alien ation, anger, suspi ciousness, irritabili ty, mood swings, lack of self-confi dence, neuroticism.
Behavioural: Increased substance abuse, unsafe behaviour pattern, suicidal tendencies, aggression, restless ness and speech disturbance.
LIFESTYLE AND STRESS We can easily combat the ill effects of stress by modifying our lifestyle. The first thing you can do is to give yourself a "stress audit." The audit will help identify the symptoms of excess stress so that you can then find ways to combat it.
In order to ascertain what kind of changes one needs to make one needs to know what triggers stress. Improper diet pattern.
Lack of sleep. Lack of aerobic activity.
Imbalance between work and personal life.
Excess smoking or alcohol consumption.
THE CURE Proactive lifestyle modifications can help in preventing premature onset of stress related illnesses. Once we have detected what triggers excess stress in our life, we must then work to remove or minimise these factors. The best ways to do this are: Exercise.
Change your diet.
Reprioritise.
Lifestyle modifications help in regressing the progress of any stress related disorder and can serve to be both a complementary and supplementary treatment. treatment.

60-year Ayodhya wait ends tomorrow

The Supreme Court on Tuesday dismissed two petitions to defer the Ayodhya title suit ruling and cleared the decks for the Lucknow bench of the Allhahabd high court to pronounce judgment in the 60-yearold case.

Soon after this, it was announced that the threemember high court bench would deliver its verdict at 3.30 pm on Thursday, September 30.

The September 30 date fixed by the Lucknow bench is of some importance as one of the judges of the three-member bench, Justice D.V.
Sharma, is due to retire on October 1. The other two judges on the bench are Justices S.U. Khan and Sudhir Agarwal.

Preferring not to comment on the merits of the case and offering no major observation during the hearing of arguments by a battery of senior advocates for the contesting parties, a Supreme Court bench of Chief Justice S.H. Kapadia and Justices Aftab Alam and K.S. Radhakrishnan, in a very brief order, rejected two special leave petitions by the former bureaucrat, Mr Ramesh Chandra Tripathi, to allow the contestants a last chance for a negotiated settlement.

“Having considered the detailed arguments advanced in these cases, we are of the view that the special leave petitions deserve to be dismissed.

Accordingly, we hereby pass the following order: the SLPs ... stand dismissed,” said the chief justice of India, reading the order from his diary as the court reassembled at 2 pm.

The only notable observation came from Justice Alam, who said: “We are running out of time because you woke up very late. It (the case) has been going on for the past 50 years.” Justice Alam further asked: “Why were you quiet all these years. Why is this petition only before the judgment is to be pronounced?”

The Suprem Court Bench, which began Tuesday’s hearing on two petitions to defer the Ayodhya title suit ruling at 10.30 am, closed arguments at around 12.30 pm, after which the judges retired to chambers for consultation.

While the judges refrained from making any observations on the merits of the two petitions, it was not convinced with the arguments of senior advocate Mukul Rohtagi, representing Mr Tripathi, that there was still a chance for a negotiated settlement, as rival counsel said all such efforts in the past two decades made by five Prime Ministers — Rajiv Gandhi, V.P.

Singh, Chandra Shekhar, P.V. Narasimha Rao and Mr Atal Behari Vajpayee — had failed.

A firm commitment by the Attorney-General, Mr Goolam E. Vahanvati, on behalf of the Centre that the government was “bound” to implement the court’s verdict clinched the issue for allowing the High Court to go ahead with the pronouncement.

“The most preferred solution is through settlement but that has not taken place.

The uncertainty, which is there, cannot continue. We can’t keep the law and order machinery in sustained animation,” the attorney-gener

al submitted.

He said the government had taken a “proactive” stand before the Constitution Bench of the Supreme Court in 1994 that it would prefer a negotiated settlement, but if that was not possible then it would abide by the court verdict.

“The mandate in the 1994 judgment is for implementation of the final decision of the suit. This is what we have to do. If there is any possibility of settlement, we welcome it, (but) we don’t want the uncertainty to continue,” Mr Vahanvati said.

Happy birthday Google: 12 years, 12 milestones

The Google dozen In this fast-paced digital era 1998 seems to be ages ago. It was in that year that two Stanford university students got together to form a company that would change the face of the Internet, for ever. As Google celebrates 12th birthday, here's a flashback of the 12 most important milestones in the Google story.
In September 1999, Larry Page and Sergey Brin set up an office, like many Silicon Valey startups, in a garage and filed for incorporation and Google Inc was born. By June 2000, the Google search engine had indexed the first billion URLs to become the word's largest search engine.
In July 2001, Google Image Search came into being with an index of 250 million image to search from. This has, by 2010, grown to an index of over 10 billion images.
Google launched Gmail, as an invitation-only beta, on April 1, 2004 with a mammoth (for those times) 1GB of storage space. Gmail now has about 200 million users.

Ayodhya verdict on Sept 30

The Supreme Court on Tuesday lifted its interim stay order on the contentious Ram Janambhoomi-Babri Masjid title suit case verdict which is to be delivered by the Lucknow bench of the Allahabad High Court. The High Court will deliver the verdict on September 30 at 3:30 PM.

World's first hybrid GT race car makes green sexy

German luxury carmaker Porsche’s new 911 GT3 R Hybrid is the world’s first hybrid GT racing car, which will be making its debut on October 2 in the 1,609 kilometres, 10-hour-maximum final in the American Le Mans Series.

At a Washington event, it showed off sleek lines and the ground-breaking new hybrid technology, developed for racing, but which Porsche ultimately wants to incorporate into its other cars. “This car shows that being environmentally efficient doesn’t have to be boring. It can be fast, it can be sexy, it can be competitive,” Patrick Long, a 29-year-old Porsche factory driver and one of a handful of men to have gripped the wheel and shifted the gears of the new Porsche GT hybrid.

“Hybrids don’t have to make no noise and drive slowly down the road.

They can be loud, exciting race cars,” he said.

The car has the body of a 2010 Porsche 911 GT3 R with a four-litre, flat-six, 480 horsepower combustion engine in the rear. Upfront, its unique hybrid system harnesses two electric motors and a flywheel to generate, store and release power. When a driver brakes on one of the many curves on a race course, the electric motors, which are coupled to the wheels, generate an electric current that powers up the flywheel. Energy is released from the flywheel during normal acceleration and automatically delivered to the front wheels to support the combustion engine and reduce fuel consumption.

Energy can also be requested by the driver — to overtake a rival racer, for example — by pushing a paddle on the steering wheel to request a “boost”.

Be careful, curves ahead

Celebrate your curves as body-watchers officially declare they are in "A CURVY FIGURE IS THE MOST SOUGHTAFTER BODY TYPE."

The fixation with the anorexic "size-zero" is finally over, and divas are now turning to a more voluptuous look, one that celebrates curves. And it came as no surprise, when singer-turneddesigner Victoria Beckham, a fashion icon, recently showcased her spring-summer 2011 collection and proclaimed that she prefers curves rather than hungry-looking ramp-scorchers. As many designers across the world are now keen on curves, it's clear that they are here to stay.

Perhaps, it's not just an international shift because even desi tinsel town hotties like Priyanka Chopra, Katrina Kaif, Sonam Kapoor, Kareena Kapoor and Lara Dutta have worked on their assets and are flaunting their new "curvilicious" avatars.
Designer Reynu Tandon feels Indian women are naturally blessed with a curvy figure and can pull it off well. She says, "A curvy figure is the most soughtafter body type, and if you have a fit body without a bulging abdomen then you can look fabulous. One should always highlight one's strengths and cleverly hide the weak areas. Straight cuts, little baby doll dresses, kurta-style tunics look good on curvy women. An empire line silhouette with high waist maxis, gowns and dresses also give a very elegant look."

If you are fond of saris, lehengas, sal war-kameez or ethnic wear, then a good curvy body is a boon.
However, when you are opting for western outfits keep in mind a few dos and don'ts.
Designer Siddartha Tytler suggests, "Bikini tops and see-through blouses, cut-out tees are a strict no-no for curvy women because they highlight the bosom. A curvy figure is beauti ful, but one needs to carry it off well. For example, Rakhi Sawant opts for tight body hugging clothes, deep necklines and short hemlines, which totally work against her and make her look vulgar instead of stylish. One must always strike the right balance between revealing and hiding curves to look aesthetic."

Designer Amit G.T.
also points out skinny or skimpy clothes can make curvy women look like a fashion disaster. He says, "The best options for women with curves are dartless blouses, tulip skirts, tent dresses, kaftans and flared bottoms.

These garments accentuate the curves without making them evi dent. However, if you have an hour-glass figure, then you can try body hugging clothes."

Siblings or Best Friends

A sibling becomes your most important friend in your teenage years.

And the beautiful bond continues to flourish.

Who do you rush to if you need to con vince mom and dad to let you go for your best friend's slumber party?
Or, when you are out of cash and need to buy must-have shoes that are on sale? Your sibling, of course! And youngsters with siblings are unanimous about treasuring the bond that they share with their brother or sister.

Says student Vibhuti Kanitkar, "My elder brother, Nikhil, and I share a very special relationship.
There's a seven-year gap between us, so we argued a lot in childhood. As we grew up, we became close and began to confide in each other. We tell each other things that we don't feel like discussing with our parents. My brother is working in a different city now, but we make sure to chat on the phone everyday. He makes fun about my boyfriends, but I know it's all in good humour."

A sibling often ends up being a lifeboat in times of crisis. Says student Sumedh Natu, "I went through my share of problems growing up. Just regular stuff that any boy or girl faces in teenage. But having my stepsister around was such a boon. She stood by me through it all and guided me in a way only a sibling can. Saloni is married now. I often joke with my brother-in-law about how he has taken her off my hands. But she lives in the same city and we meet up often. And we are as close as ever."

Adds Vibhuti, "I will always remember when I was in school, I spent an entire night bawling because I had made a mess of an assignment. My brother swooped in and made me feel better by saying that things were not as bad as I imagined them to be.
He had been through this, and knew how to walk me through it. He sat with me the whole time, pacifying me, and it worked wonders."

Student Swati Piparsania is someone who shifted base so that she could study in the same city as her sister.
"Our parents are based in Bhilai. When my sister got admission in a college in Bengaluru, I knew I had to move along with her.
We cannot live without each other. We tell each other everything, be it boyfriends, crushes or the day's goings-on. She is my most favourite person in the world and I can do anything for her," Swati smiles.

Experts too opine, that having a sibling is advantageous. "Having a sibling teaches people to share. It goes on to become the foundation of sharing, in their teenage years. Not just with material things, but with emo tions too. As children, they may fight. But once they grow up, they find themselves understand ing each other better. Siblings feel more comfortable sharing details about their life with each other, than with their parents.

They are always there for each other," says psychologist Jagruti Sarnath.

So cherish the wonderful bond that you share with your sibling. Not everyone is as lucky!

Chennai SuperKings Thrash SA Warriors

The Chennai Super Kings crushed the Eastern Cape Warriors by eight wickets in the final of the Champions League Twenty20 tournament at the Wanderers Stadium on Sunday.

Spin bowlers Ravichandran Ashwin and Muttiah Muralitharan set up the win as the Warriors were restricted to 128/7 in 20 overs. Chennai opening batsmen Mike Hussey and Murali Vijay put on 103 for the first wicket without needing to take any risks.

The result was never in any real doubt although there were only six balls to spare when captain Mahen

dra Singh Dhoni hit the winning runs.

An emotional Dhoni said it could not get bigger for his side to bag their second title of the year by by winning the Champions League Twenty20 title here.

He heaped praised on his teammates for playing as a cohesive unit to bag their second title in five months after winning the Indian Premier League in April.

“We are playing for the last time as a unit. We know some players will no longer be with us after the IPL auction. It is an emotional moment,” he said.

“It can’t get better, winning the IPL and now the

Champions League Twenty20,” he said. He also gave credit to the team’s success this season to coach Stephen Fleming and the foreigners. “Fleming took over as coach and we wanted to create an atmosphere that was good for the younger players. We had some fantastic foreign players like Mike Hussey and Matthew Hayden who had really helped out the youngsters,” Dhoni said.

“The bowlers had done really well. The line that Ravichandran Ashwin bowled with Muttiah Muralitharan was crucial.

Laxmipathy Balaji was also very good,” he added.

He said his side had faced some fitness issues initially but overcame them to win the tournament. "The start of the tournament, a few of the players were infected with flu. But we overcame that and lifted the trophy. It was really satisfying," said Dhoni Warriors captain Davy Jacobs said his side was disappointed to have lost in the final. "We are disappointed but Chennai deserved to win. They beat us twice in the competition," he said. -AFP, PTI Scores: Warriors 128/7 in 20 overs (Jacobs 34; Murali 3/16, Ashwin 2/16) lost to Chennai Super Kings 132/2 (Vijay 58, Hussey 51 n.o.; Ntini 1/30).

Sharapova out in First Round

Defend ing champion Maria Sharapova fell victim to local favourite Kimiko Date Krumm in the first round of the Pan Pacific Open women’s tennis tournament on Monday.

The Russian 12th seed, who also won here in 2005, dug her own grave by hitting 11 double faults — nine of them in her brokenservice games — to go down 5-7, 6-3, 3-6 to the Japanese. “My opponent played really a solid match.

I didn’t feel comfortable throughout the match.

Rhythm wasn’t there and I couldn’t take an advantage.

She did a good job,” said Sharapova.

“Her style of play is quite different. Her strokes are pretty fast, she stays inside the baseline and takes the ball early, so the style is different from the majority on the tour,” Sharapova said.

Jai Ho!!! .... Military to rescue our pride

It's the Army to the rescue once again. It has now been requested by civil authorities to rush in 60 civilian "tradesmen" -plumbers, carpenters and electricians -belonging to the Military Engineering Service to help shore up the facilities at the much-criticised Commonwealth Games Village.

Sources said the request has been accepted and the tradesmen are being sent to the Games Village. The MES comes under the purview of the Army’s Engineer-in-Chief branch and comprises both military personnel and civilians.
